Fuel Gague

My fuel gague just stop working. I have check the system with my Super Chip scanner function. It show an error code of 602 then when I tried to reset the gague started to work correctly but this was short lived. In about 10 min.it has stop working again. I get a low fuel light and the onboard milage information does not show any milage information. Any ideas?

What you are getting is a calibration error from the PCM/ECM. The usual cause, when a fuel sender is involved, is a bad ground for the body. It can also occur if an incorrect fuel sender was used, or if the variable resistor in the new sender has a fault and loads the system with full power (usually happens with a full tank).

Check your grounds. If that does not fix the problem, take your old sender and replace the hinge pin on the float pivot with a chunk of aluminum welding rod. Then put it back in, the problem will go away.
