roof light question??
I have just recently purchased recons' roof light kit for my '05 ram 2500 (that does not have roof lights on it). When I opened the box i only found the lights and mounting screws, and I was wondering if anyone had installed a kit like this can give me some help...does any one have a template for the lights? Can anyone tell me how to lower the head liner down? And might there be a chance that there might be a harness for the roof lights above the head liner?
Any information will be helpful.

This should answer all your questions. Be prepared to do alot of reading. I did mine about a month ago and it was really easy.

Also behind the passenger side A-pillar there will be a factory plug (mine wasn't being used) use a test light to check and see which one works with the headlight switch, mine was grey with a green chaser, if memory serves correctly. Just plug into that.
You could also but the factory light kit wich will include a wiring harness, template, screws, and factory lights. Its cheap enough and gives you the factory harness wich is nice.

If you can, get the Recon cab lights with the mounting screws side by side instead of front to back, this will give you the option of replacing with the factory lights. I would stay away from using the plastic screw inserts also, they spin very easily....
Also might want to use one of these for the 7/8 holes, its clean and easy to use.

I have the smoked cab lights on my truck and instinct told me to not use the plastic inserts and just drill and screw the sheetmetal (proper sized drill important here) but I used the inserts and even after letting the silicone set up for a few hrs half of them still spun on me. The other problem is the fact that some of the ones that spun are located behind the support structure by the windshield where they can't be accessed if they strip (another good reason to get the lights with the side by side mounting screws)
Other than a few quirks it really is an easy job. The interior is simple to take apart, took me about 20 mins, total time was somewhere around 3 hrs, took alotta time to get that template just right.
