Yeah, 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film. Comes in a roll, usually about 20 yards long, in varying widths from about 6 inches to 48 inches. http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/e...er/output_html Been think'n about trying some myself.

Ever thought about using something like line-x on the bottom panels? They can mix it using the chrysler paint code, and it will be the same color as your truck, but tough.

I've Line-X'd two previous trucks and loved it! I haven't gotten around to doing this one yet though, but it's a very good investment. It will never chip, peel or anything.
I've seen that film stuff get chipped and then dust and dirt settles in and you can really see the marks.

My Line-X guy quoted me $200 bucks for my long bed reg cab. The stuff lasts forever, so I think it's worth the investment. You'll never have to mess with it again. And if you get it in black, you won't ever see the road tar.
Funny actually........ I went to Wal-Mart today and thought I would try This Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating on my rockers behind my rear wheels (I had just fixed a dent there and didn't want to color match and blend paint). You buy the quart ($15) or the gallon ($40) and then buy the special roller brush for the texture ($3). I must say that that stuff was a joy to work with. Real quick and easy to apply. Just scuff the surface a little with sandpaper and mask it off and start rolling it on as thick as you want. Dries fast. A little messy buts thats ok, lay down some newspaper. I used 1/2 a quart to do the rockers behind the rear tires and am saving the rest if I need to touch up later. I have allready had some people ask me where I got in Rhino-Lined. Looks sharp!

Answering my own question
The 3M film has to be professionally applied by a 3M authorized facility.
On the subject of rocks, one got my windshield with only 900 miles on the truck. Chip the size of a dime about 7 inches up in the middle of the passenger side.
When I washed it today I found a chip out of the bumper and one in the rocker under the driver side door. I think getting this film done will be a very good idea. I'm also installing a camper top and I thought I'd put the film on top of the bed rails to protect the paint underneath. I'm waiting for a price quote.
