Reverse light short

I am assuming that my reverse lights have a short in them. I noticed they were not working. Checked the fuse and it had blew. Put in a new one same thing. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before? Or does anyone have a wire diagram for the reverse lights?

Thanks,
Josh

Check the reverse switch on the tranny. Somewhat common on the NV5600.

Check your trailer wiring receptacle under the back end. These wire are vulnerable to getting jerked out and cut up real easy. That is also an easy place to start.

So if it is the switch then do I have to replace the switch? I did notice that the taillight on the tailgate isn't working either. There was a vacume trailer brake installed. They spliced into the wires in the back of the truck. So I'm thinking there could be a problem there too.

Yes, if the problem is the switch. Good idea to check the wiring at the back since the factory wiring has been tampered with.

Since we are on this subject, I was driving and noticed my reverse light flickering, it would stay on for 10 seconds, cut out for 30 seconds. Finally, it stayed on as I was in 6th gear! So I pulled over an pulled the tail light out. As I was about to pull the bulb out and disconnect the harness, it finally went off.

MikeyB, what can be the problem?
