Removing Lift

I came across a 06 2500 Quad Cab Sort Bed 4x4 with a 4 inch lift kit. The person is financially struggling so they are willing to deal on the truck. Is it practical or financially prohibitive to remove a lift kit? I would use the truck to tow with so I don't want it lifted. I don't want 37 inch tires on it. Anyone know if some of the stock parts are removed when being lifted. Is this something one could do at home in their garage?

Thanks

I don't know of all the parts, but the control arms will not be stock. front springs, shocks, and possible end links, track bar and pitman arm.
You could see if someone wants to trade stock for lift parts.

Not a bad thing, and not entirely difficult if you have some time and mechanical knowledge. Post up on here and your local craigslist for a trade with a stocker and work out the detail on install/uninstall time, place and logistics. Option 2 is collect the parts you need and make the switch. Stock parts are inexpensive if you are willing to do some searching. Once you have the lift/wheels off sell them and you should have a positive cash flow for other goodies. Good luck, if you were closer I might make a deal with you!

I would not assume any of the parts you mentioned were changed other than the springs and shocks.

I bet you'll find lotsa members here who have jacked up their turuck and keep the stock stuff "just in case" they want to return it to stock one day. Try putting a wanted ad in the classifieds.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I talked to some guys at Les Scwab that install lift kits and they said about the same thing. In talking to the person that has the truck, his ideal of a good buy and mine are thousands of dollars a part. I never try and hit a guy when he is down because I have been there myself. But if he is going to take the truck to a Dodge Dealer and they are going to give him less than trade in for it, I might as well take advantage of the deal. But it turns out he wants more for the truck than I can buy one in stock condition from a dealer for. Thanks again everyone.
