It leaves a black area the shape of the emblem. Mine was taken off by a portable panel. I don't recommend that technique. And I don't know if it's becuase I didn't plan on it coming off or what but I don't like it like that.

I had assumed it was chrome underneath it, but Duallydog you may be right about that. I was originally thinking that it may have a stud of some sort holding it on, and that it wouldn't clean up to be smooth chrome like the rest of the grill.
