Remote Keyless Entry ?????

Remote Keyless Entry ?????
I recently bought a used 2003 Ram 3500 Quad Cab SLT 4x4 5.9l diesel. I only got one black key. No remote key-fob, no extra keys. How do I tell if the truck has a keyless entry? Can I check to see if there is a module under the dash, or anything?
There is a lock cylinder in each front door, which I believe to mean that a RKE was not installed at the factory. Any way to tell if one has been put in at the dealer?
Thanks,
Reamer

go talk to your service manager
ask for a print out of the truck and its options from dealer connect with your vin #. Then it will say if you have it or not (the parts counter was who helped me prove the case to my salesman who then promptly ordered me a keyless entry remote). My sales manager tried to convince me my truck was set up where if I would like to buy one my truck was compatible, but the print out said otherwise.

Nope!
Ran the VIN by the guy at the dealer. He gave me a 3-page printout with all the options listed. No remote, no central locking, even.....
But it does list a 5.9l Diesel twice! Maybe I should look around for a spare engine -- under the seats, maybe?
Any suggestions for an aftermarket RKE?
thanks.

I also bought a used 2003 with no rke. I bought the factory system yesterday from the dealer. $90. I am going to install it tonite. looks pretty much plug and play but it may have to be programmed by the dealer I will let you know.

Please do keep me posted! What did the 90 bucks get you? The module and 1 remote? 2 remotes? Does it also include central locking? I'm surprised that there are so many combinations of locking systems -- I've got power door locks, but no RKE and no central locking.

You can have the RKE installed, but unfortunatelly you cannot have the alarm/security system installed on an 03 if it did not come with the RKE from the factory. That's why I had to have an after market alrm installed, which in hind site I think is GREAT!! No one seems to pay attention to a horn alarm anymore, as eveyone has them going off accidentally all the time. (I had a brite blue diod installed in the overhead console, and a shrieking alarm if the truck is bumped or jolted more than once, etc..)

Aftermarket should run you about $50 for a decent unit and do everything the factory does from farther away, install may take a bit longer unless the Mopar piece needs to be enabled with the DRB (I think it does).

I bought mine off E-Bay pre programmed with two remotes. I beleive it was less than $140 with shipping. You can find them cheaper unprogramed, BUT you'll have to pay the dealer to program it which will cost you at least 1/2 hour labor.
It took longer to pull the dash apart than it did to install. Truly, plug and play.

I put mine in and it does need to be programmed by the dealer. The install was super easy. The dealer actually programmed the truck and the key fobs for free since I bought it off of them.

How much was it for the dealer to do?
I remember it was expensive for my old Grand Cherokee years ago, but I needed the fob too.
In this case, I guess I need another fob as I just bought an 03 with no lock on the passenger or rear doors.
