Question Keyless entry remote programming

One of my buddies needs to know how to re program a remote he just got for his 98 CTD...There were many threads posted on this earlier when i had the same problem(until i got my auto start )...But can someone please let me know or give me a web page that will help us out

we tried that tech facts instruction and had no luck, he has the square remote with the 3 buttons, not the longer one, dunno if that may pose a problem

I'm gonna suggest that this may not be the correct remote for the 98. In 97 they had square remotes but in 98 I believe they when to the round ones, kind of a tear drop shape. If this is an oddity, hold over from 97, in his 98, I have instructions for the 97. Send me a PM with an email address and I will send you a scanned page of instructions. Keep in mind that if the remote is not right for that year the instructions will not matter.

Another thing, some trucks that do not already have a remote, must be programmed for the initial remote by the dealer.

His truck is the same year as mine and mine came with the square one...

anyone else have the instructions for the square remotes, stamey sent them to me but my email wont open it and most all computers ive tried...and help would be greatly appreciated

He has to already have a remote programmed in order to program another one. If this is the only remote then the dealer has to use the DRB tool to program the first one.
