Rapid Blinkers w/Brakes on????

All,

Howdy....help needed. I had a bulb out warning light on, off to AutoZone for bulbs, I replaced the bulb (correct one, 3057?), weird behaviour now:

Left Blinker Works BUT goes to Rapid Blinking when Brake is applied, it goes away when the brake is let off.

Any thoughts on what might cause this?????

Thanks much,

Andy

Light out..nope

Hi, thanks for the fast response.

Lights work fine, its the blinker that goes FAST when the brakes are applied. This one is bizarre, even for me!

Alot of times wierd stuff like this can be a loose or broken ground connection......and sometimes hard to find.

Check the blinker module.. probably internally shorted. On my old Chevy, it was under the dash, left side, buy the fuse box. It's a small plastic box. They were about $10 at Auto Zone. Get the Heavy Duty rather than the Normal Duty if you're towing...it has a better load capacity. If that's not it, check for a grounding wire.

You probably have another one of the taillight bulbs getting ready to burn out.

Found it

All,

Well I searched, searched and searched more, looked at fuses, relays, switches, traced wires, lost my mind, tracked wires, looked at diagrams, swapped out bulbs, lost more of my mind. The lights would work while parked, then after a few miles start to blink rapidly, not work, nothing normal. Weird.

FINALLY, I just wired tied the Left Side pig tail to the light assembly. THIS FIXED IT! Apparently the plug backed out JUST enough to let the lights act weird, not work, act weird again and drive me CRAZY!

Anyway...thanks for all the tips!

Andy
