Random Horn Honk??

Every once and a while my truck will blow the horn as I am pulling the key out and opening the door. I cannot duplicate the action that makes it happen, but it is always around the time that I am getting out of the truck. The first time it did it I thought I had brushed the horn button, but it takes a pretty good push to make the horn work. Anybody else have this issue, or know how to fix it??

mine does this too. about every 6 weeks to 2 months it will have a honk fit for no reason. i always wonder if its cuz i have my remote in my hand and puch the button and grab the handle real quick. i dunno maybe its just random my Gf said her dodge car will do it too. and i was at Super store yesterday and when i was leaving i saw a guy getting into his dodge half ton and it threw a honking fit so i felt better not being the only one.

Recall OUT-OF-PARK-ALARM

Safety Recall E17
Out-of-Park Alarm System
2003 – 2004 (DR) Dodge Ram Pickup Truck
2005 (DH) Dodge Ram Pickup Truck
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a 5.9L diesel
engine (”6” or “C” in the 8th VIN Position) and an automatic transmission
(sales code DGP or DG8).
In certain circumstances when a driver has not placed the shifter lever fully into the
“Park” position and leaves the engine running, the vehicle may unexpectedly move
rearward after seeming to be stable. Unintended rearward movement of a vehicle
could injure those in and/or near the vehicle.
An Out-of-Park alarm system must be installed on the vehicle. The alarm system
will beep the horn and flash the headlamps and shift indicator if a driver tries to
exit a running vehicle without fully placing the shifter into the “Park” position.
Models
IMPORTANT: Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer used vehicle
inventory. Dealers should complete this recall service on these vehicles before
retail delivery. Dealers should also perform this recall on vehicles in for service.
Involved vehicles can be determined by using the VIP inquiry process.

Ah so its intentional! It always seems to happen as I open the door, or if I am moving the truck around with the door open.

I scared the crap out of a guy who was walking infront of my truck as I was getting out when it honked at him. I felt bad and apologized!! Told him my truck was possessed, lol.

Sad part is once your truck has this recall done it cannot be disabled. Happy honking

Well now that I know what makes it happen I will try and do things differently. It only happens when I am in a rush to get out of the truck anyways.

Hmmm. Mine hasn't had the recall taken care of and the wife had the horn sounding when she left he grocery store today and it wasn't due to hitting the fob as she doesn't have one on her set of keys.

The search for an answer continues.

Yep welcome to a poor fix by Chrysler. Could be worse you could have my truck I have the factory horn relay controlling my air horns. Nothing like them going off in the early am scaring the poo out of you.
