back up horn honk

hey guys is there any way to stop the horn from honking if and when you back up with the door open? Have'nt asked the dealeship yet, they most likely wont turn it off due to some idiot that fell out the door when baking up and now it's a saftey thing! Just wanted to know if there was something I could do to make it stop?

Don't know how accurate this is but the local dealer told me that you cannot disable the back up horn. Pain in the rear ain't it!!!

Look in 3rd Gen Engine and Driveline section, first post. Lots of info on this issue.

I got it too. I think we're stuck with it. You can get into some complicated wiring with relays and such, but I don't think I am willing to mess with mine that way. And I think you're right, it probably could be disabled through the computer, but no dealership will do it because of "safety" and "law".

i know of two ways to do this, number one is to get a bullydog triple dog downloader and go to the special options and you can disable it.

secondly if you diable the seat belt reminder chime it supposidly removes the back up honk as well. to do this look in your manual.

I have the reminder chime disabled in my truck, and the **** reverse honk is still in place.

This trick ONLY works on the trucks that came from the factory with it. NOT the ones that had the "recall" done ! ! !

I just did not take mine in to get this particular recall work done. No help on disabling it although does anyone know if there is a fuse you can remove to disable it.

I had the reflash done. They called it a safety issuse and I lived with it until I installed the Smarty. "No more reverse horn honk".

Now I put it in reverse and open the door and just laugh ( no more honk). Some people think I am a little crazy, well maybe they are right.
