Quick question
I have a quick question for all of you in the know.
I will be installing my Jacobs Exhaust brake in a couple of weeks and the kit that I got has a vacuum pump that mounts on the front of the engine.
My question is; Is there another source of vacuum that I could plumb into without having to install the vacuum pump? And if there isn't, how is vacuum generated to operate the heater controls and the brakes and whatever else is operated by vacuum on these fine rigs?
Thanks for any help.

My understanding is no, there is no vacuum supply on the 3rd gen trucks. As far as the HVAC controls are concerned, what ever drives them would not be significant enough to operate the exhaust brake. I think the brakes work off a hydroboost system off the power steering pump.
