Quick Airdog filter change question

When I change my Airdog filter, mounted on the frame, how much fuel will I loose in the lines? Will I need to purge air between the filter and injector pump like I did on install?

Thanks

The system is self priming. All you need to do is fill the water separate (if you changed it) with fuel first. The pump will prime the regular filter.

Thanks...guess that means whatever fuel is in the lines won't come pouring out?

Yes you will end up getting dripped on, be ready for it.

I took a coupe pairs of hose clamp pliers and clamped off the line from the tank and the line going to the engine. I still lost some fuel but only a small amount. I did try to change out both the f/w separator and the filter at the same time and lost about 2 gallons of fuel. The system must of had a siphon effect going on cause there was no end in sight for the fuel flow, hence the reason to clamp off the fuel lines. If you do not have hose clamp off pliers you can use needle nose vise grips, just put black tape around the teeth of the vise grips so you don't damage the fuel lines. I prime all upright furl filters, however on this system you can do it by turning the key on then off several times before starting the truck.

2 gallons? That's a lot of fuel, I can't see losing that much in the time it takes to screw off the old one and put the new one on.

It is because I came out from under the truck thinking it would only drain what was in the lines. I needed to address a problem that one of our drivers had, so I got side tracked. If I had stayed under the truck I would not have lost that much fuel. Crimping off the lines is still the only way to go. You lose hardly anything.
