Quick AC question

Hey all,
I usually find everything I need here with the search button. But there is so much on the poor AC system that I need a little direction on the search. When I turn my AC on it blows cold enough and works Ok at low fan speed, but when I turn the fan speed up no more air comes out of the vents and it sounds like a hurricane inside the dash. So the fan is working, it's blowing cold enough, but there is something going on that traps the air inside the duct system. Is this the blend-door?

Please if anybody knows what the problem is so I search out the answer...that would be great! Thanks!!!!

Sounds like the infamous Blend door issue. They break internally ( Known problem) and this causes the symptoms you describe.

I would actually wager to say that it is your recirc door. This seems to be a more common failure than the blend door and has the exact symptoms you describe. The easiest way to tell if it's the recirc door is to remove the fan and it will probably be laying there blocking the airflow. You can pull the door out through the fan hole and you will have a working a/c again, you just won't have the recirc function. Mine didn't seem to cool very well after I took the broken door out. Dodge has redesigned the housing for the recirc door and I think I paid $25 for the housing, which comes with the new door installed. Installing it in the truck is a PITA. If you're not mechanically inclined, you might want to let the dealer do it.

No need to search. This thread has tons of info and some good pics and a good write-up on page 2.

I saved this from one of the many HVAC threads. I can't remember anyone actually trying it.
