pulling to the right
pulling to the right
i have two 04.5 4x4 one 3500 DW and one 2500SW and both of them pull to the right. has any one ever had this trouble and what the heck makes them pull to the right? i could see one doing it but both this sucks!!!!!!!!
Your caster angle needs a tweak,if it's not a leaking caliper,or low air pressure. Most cars are aligned to go straight, but the roads have an angle in for water run off, some folks need to after their caster tweaked to make it pull a little to the left. On another note,if an alignment shop lines you up right on the money, and it pulls to one side on a perfectly flat road, then your rear axle or spring has been shifted, and that's how your front is aligned , by the guns on the rear axle, if it's shifted, your whole alignment will be setup wrong. They could adjust your front alignment(caster angle) to make up for the shifted rear axle, and it will drive straight as an arrow, but watch how fast your tires will wear down, your fronts will be fighting with your rears to go straight. Good luck, and trust me,I was the alignment dude at our GM dealer for many years, and I hated it.

With our straight axles the right and left caster angles cannot be set independently unles you change the upper ball joint to an offset one.
Many of us have the problem. I've found it is much worse with some tires. My 315s had me practically hanging on the wheel to go straight but when I changed to the the 285s it was much better.
One day I was wondering just how much force there was on the tie rod, the force of pulling to one side, so I attached a couple of bungee cords pulling the other way. With two cords the problem went away so it seems there is about a twenty pound force or so. Well, now it's been about 50,000 miles and I still haven't put in an offset ball joint but the bungee cords are still there and all is well.........for now. I recently did the Dynatrac kit and also put in new ball joints. My old ones were so worn that I did not want to get an alignment just to try and tell me what offset I should get, so I just put zero offset ones back in. It's not really fixed, but nice and tight and still not pulling

Mine has pulled since day ONE and has never been fixed. I gave up on it. I just let it pull.
Pulling to right is common when larger (wider) tires are mounted, although mine pulls left when it pulls. The truck is also sensitive to tire pressure, just a 5lb difference between the rears can have some affect. I also heard that the steering box and track bar have a tendency to flex. Someone recently posted a link to a bolt on kit that corrects the flex, but I can't find it.

A 4wd that goes to right on crowned road and goes to left when you drive on the wrong side of the crowned road, is not really pulling. It is just going down the hill, suspension wise. Tire wear can sometimes by reduced by setting tow to near zero.
