If I had an old box I'd be glad to look into it and try to figure out what is going wrong with these stupid things. My someone aught to show the eng's at DC what fuses are for and how to select the proper one.

Well I found a new box at www.oemdodgeparts.com. I plan on taking old one apart to see what is wrong with it. Dealer told me it would cost $400 or more if they could even get one. Only cost me $286 + $57 for overnight shipping. I just hope this gets it fixed.

Ok, my truck is fixed. Part was back-ordered, finanlly go it in. Works great. Only took about an hour to install. Man I really hate dealerships after all of this.

Great!
I am glad you got it fixed... Lets see if someone can find out what went wrong and see if there is a cheaper fix or mod that can be done to bypass it and have an external relay or fuse.
I am sure this is not going to be the last one we see!

pwr dist box problems also

Hey guys,

It appears I lost my pwr dist box also, no right trailer break/turn. Anyone come across a cheaper fix than the $500 for replacing the box, for a single trailer wire?

Solution?

I was looking around is this a possible solution to the trailer light problems

http://autoaccessconnect.stores.yaho...ampi15se2.html

Seems cheaper than $500

I don't think this would solve anything, actually, it would just put more load on your vehicle light wires and cause problems there. Sorry to be negative, but I don't think that is a 'good' fix. It might work, but merely a patch, not a solution.

4X4 is right...
I ran off of my truck lights for a while and it ended up killing the fuses... I had to bump them up to 30 amp to keep from popping them... I am sure if I didn't change the box it would have messed up those also. I would like to see someone dig into the problem and design an external fuse or relay that can be interated in to the existing box so that when it pops... It is a $5 fix instead of $500!

forgive my ignorance...but would fusing your trailer's connections protect the box? like...if i was to make a little box that plugged between the truck and the trailer that was all fused up? or is the protection needed from elsewhere?

That would be another way of dealing with it... If someone were to build a plugin to go between the plug and the bumper and be fuse individually... I would buy it!
