Power Windows Problems

Don't know where to even start looking...

The driver's door window controls always work every window, but the other windows will sometimes "lock up" like the window lock switch is on, but the drivers controls still work the windows. In order to "fix" the problem the passenger has to hold the switch in either direction while the driver moves the window up and down...after a few seconds the windows will all work like nothing was ever wrong in the first place....

Any thoughts of where to start looking or what the problem could be?

Welcome to the site (noticing this is post #1 for you).

It would help immensely if we knew of what vehicle you speak.

Filling your signature with pertinent vehicle info will put this info into each post you make.

Not sure if a cluster test would reveal anything. With key 'off', Push and hold trip button in and turn key to ON position. Cluster should take a test and give codes when done.

I have a 66 & 67 which about the door locks shorting out or something. I guess it is common and I haven't had any problems with it yet. So I don't know if Windows will give any codes. If they do, that might help.

I have a similar problem. I'll try to see if I can get any codes tonight.

My truck will always work all the windows from the drivers side, but sometimes the rest of the window switches appear to be dead. I am starting to suspect a bad window lockout switch on the drivers door. One day when it dies again will pull it apart and do some testing. Right now all switches work.
