Ain't she sweet, just a cummin down the street.

Now that is a purdy truck. That is the first standard cab I've seen. It is really sharp with that new slant windshield and the corners are rounded more at the rear. Very sharp. Congrats, man.

Bob

Re:Pics of My New Ride

Great looking Ride, Utah! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine. This was my first special order, too. I've had it 7 days and it only has 300 miles on it. Going to change that with a trip to Virginia in a few weeks.

Enjoy your new ride!

JD

Re:Pics of My New Ride

;D You boys are swell - you really are. ;D

A special thanks to you, Phil for posting the pic here. I'm new to this digital pic stuff and need some time to catch on.

The 35's don't look that big on these trucks, eh?

Anyone notice I mounted the body moldings above the beltline (like the old style) rather than below? I thought it looked better and, besides, have some MAAP stainless side tube steps (the new oval ones) on order that'll protect the lower parts of the truck.

Best to y'all
Bill

Re:Pics of My New Ride

UTAH,
You didn't mention a leveling kit or anything in your post; is it on there in the pictures? How much driving did you do with the stock tires? Was there much difference when you stepped up to the 315's? I have put a lot of big tires on a lot of trucks, but never a diesel (or anything with this much factory power, for that matter). Just wondering if, when I put the 315's on mine, I will need to start fishing for power parts too? Nice looking ride, man! ;D

Re:Pics of My New Ride

TWZMYJP - Well, I was going to put on a 2" leveling kit but changed my mind after fitting the 35's. Geez, these trucks have plenty of space under 'em!

Dodge put much more room in the wheelwells for larger tires due to the large tire/wheel option on the 1500 series - works out to a stock 33" tire if you get that option (20" wheel).

Yes - the ride is different. Due to the larger tire, I'm currently running 46 PSI front and 37 PSI rear. I arrived at these figures after a considerable amount of footprint comparisons and static measurements. The result is a softer ride.

Normally, I'd attribute much of the result to going from a E to a D-rated tire. But, BFG's truck tires are pretty stiff compared to the competition due to their reinforced sidewall construction. BFG's D-rated tires are built like a E-rated tire (check the load specs and you'll see what I mean).

I was also considering going with the Pro Comp 35" AT's as I know their D-rated tire is softer than most. But, my concerns about the capacity and toughness of the Pro Comp compared to the BFG's drove my final decision. Don't get me wrong, I like Pro Comps and run a set on my D90.

I have seriously NOT noticed a loss of power going to the 35's - I thought I would. The Torque of the HO has made the issue moot. It did drop my RPM's from 2100 at 70 MPH to 1900. I always thought 6th gear in these trucks was still too high and the new tires bring the gearing to where I think it should be.

Best to y'all
Bill

Re:Pics of My New Ride

Here's Woody350's truck. Looks somewhat like a "buckboard" straight from "Bonanza".

No comparison between UTAH's Ride and Woody350. UTAH's is a real beauty.

Guess we should forgive Woody350 for posting pics of an ugly dually. He is into motorcycle racing according to his profile.
