Question Paint Problems! covered under warranty?

The warranty manual says 5 yrs or 100,000 mi, whichever comes first on outer body panels. I might still be within the 5 years.

Anyway, removed the door spears along the lower doors over the past weekend and this is what I found underneath, any chance they will be repaired under warranty or would it be a waste of time to even bring it in?

No one knows how bad the paint has to be before they will honor the warranty?

most sheetmetal warranties are for "perforation" which means the sheetmetal must have a rust hole in it to be covered. What are these door spear things you removed? The dealer will prolly just tell you that you should not of removed what you removed !

Did you use a heat gun to remove the moulding? I'd take some touch up paint and fill the spots in, and then reapply the moulding so it covers everything up.

The plastic strip that is taped to the doors to prevent dents and dings.

I didn't use a heat gun. I assure you the damage was not caused by me during removal. Guess I'll contact the dealer and see what they have to say.

You might be able to assure me but it'll be much harder if not impossible to assure the dealer that you did not cause the damage...yada,yada. They are a PITA and will blame you because you removed molding.. simple as that..
I hope they go in your favor but from my "dealership hassles" They most likely won't. JMO

How exactly did you remove the molding?

I agree with you thats why I'm hesitant to even waste time going to a dealer. First washed around the edges, fishing line to saw through while pulling away from the body (with no heat at all), removed moulding, washed again, eraser wheel to take off residue, goo gone for what the eraser wheel left, washed again, meguires scratch x to remove a ghost like outline. The damage was evident as soon as I pulled the moulding off, there is only tape along the edges the damaged portion was not covered. I am extremely careful when it comes to things like this, all other badges I removed this way came out perfectly without even a small scratch.
