Off Topic - Truck Campers

Sorry for the off topic post. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to rent a truck camper for my SB 2500 (2004)? I live in Colorado and am going to be taking a 10 day, 3200 mile road trip in late October. I'd rather not pull anything (simply for convenience) but can't seem to find anyone renting a bed-mounted camper shell. Any advice?

Thanks for any help!

I don't think you'll ever find someone to rent you a truck camper.

The truck needs to be equipped with the proper tie down equipment, and rubber bed pads. Also needs the proper type electrical plug in sidewall of bed.

You CAN rent travel trailers, however!

AND you could rent a Class C motorhome...

Come on up to Canada! My sister rented a slide in camper for a week. Actually it was pretty cheap, some $350 for the week. The only problem was the inflexable rental time. It was from a saturday to a friday otherwise there was another weeks charge

edited to add: you may want to call around to some RV dealers and see if they know any rental places.....

Yeah one can rent slide-ins and TT's at least in NC although I would opt for a TT since you have the torque of a CTD. Your may need larger (camper style) mirrors though.

On edit I see in your pic you have the flip up mirrors already.

Thanks for the response guys. I completely forgot about the tie down brackets, etc...I didn't even think about this . That makes sense why there are so few renting these. I guess I'll have to give the trailers a look. I'm going to be ending up in LA, so I really didn't want to pull a trailer, but that may be the only way.

Thanks again for your help!

all you can do is talk to the camper place, if they are really motivated to rent you the camper they will come up with a secure way to tie the camper into the truck bed....

Cruise America used to rent them, but I don't see them on their website now. I seem to remember that it was pretty expensive.

Don't worry about driving in LA. Just give your signal and change lanes....that's what everybody else does.
