noticed something funny

I was driving my wires 03 and noticed a dinging when I ran over the dummy bumps on interstate. Normal?

A dinging like a bell or metal tapping? Sounds like there's something loose somewhere. Maybe something that rolled under a seat? Maybe keys on the keyring?

Nope, it was the dinger in the dash. Does it everytime I run over those bumps...whether its the right or left side. I thought it was strange but my wife says its always done it???? Maybe my truck is special

I had a 2nd gen that would ding like that (every 2 or 3 seconds), but only if you were pulling heavy and only when it was -25 or colder but it did not require bumps to ding. Never any codes either. Boy that was a long drive delivering that load. My solution was trading that truck off.

Do you get codes?

We get a 'ding once or twice a day in our 03. We've learned to ignore it. If anyone knows what it might be, I may check into it.

Sounds like the lamp out ding. Sometimes, when you get a bulb that has a bad connection, the bumps will trigger the alarm for a second.

Bad door switch? A little jiggle might make it trigger.

I agree with Madhat. Ive had this happen on some of the rougher back roads here in Pa. It usually takes a good bump tho.

I'd bet a lot of money it's the tail lights being crappy. Mine did that, horribly so... the thin wire contacts on those crummy bulbs had melted into the plastic from arcing on and off due to being poorly secured, making it worse and worse.
