Are Nitto's 325/60R18 D rated tire with max load 3,000lbs each, safe to put on our 3rd gen's? I hear alot about sticking with an E rated tire but I really like the Nitto's and I know others are running them. I tow a 30' toy hauler about 12,000 miles/year. Would these tires be a good choice?

 

I had the exact tires you're talking about and they were toast at 25k miles. Have the cepek FCII's now and probably have 5-10k miles left, currently at
37k with them. The cepeks also have a higer rating (like 3500+ lbs)

 

If you don't mind going a bit smaller, the ProComp Xterrain AT's have a E load rating and are nice as well. I like my 33X12.5's.

 

Are the 33x12.5's for a 17" or 18" rim? I really like the ProComp's but the sizes I found in 18's were 325/60R18 and they are listed as 13.8 inches wide .
I have eagle 114's 18/9.5 wheels with 6" B.S. I think they would stick way outside the fender wells and may rub without a lift? I see the 33x12.5's in 17" wheels but can't find the correct B.S.

 

Sorry was talking about 17s. Do you really think the extra 1" would make that much of difference? If you have a 4wheel parts by you, I would ask them to do a test fit.

Why I like these are they are agressive enough for off-roading, but very quiet on the highway. Plus the 40K+ treadware aint too bad.

 

I'm going to look for some 17" wheels. If no luck finding something I like with the correct backspacing, I'm going to get the wider 325/60R18's. Thanks for your help.

 

I have the size you are looking for on my truck, pics in profile. I have only had them for about 6000 miles. I see no wear, so far and am very satisfied with the traction on both wet and dry surfaces. Personally I believe that if you keep them properly inflated you won't have any complaints 50 psi. all around. As with any tire if you do not keep alignment and inflation in spec you will shorten the life of the tire. Be aware, I did lose about 1/2 MPG average fuel economy when I went to the wide tires however the added traction is worth it.

 

The 315 BFG's I got today have a D rating but can hold the same weight as the stock tires with E rating???(Michelin's)

How does that work???

 

The weight rating is how much the tire can hold up sitting still. The load range rating has to do with sidewall stiffness and how much the sidewalls will flex and roll while carrying a load around a corner. A D rated tire's sidewalls will flex more than an E rated tire carrying the same load.

 

I recently installed these 37" x 13.5" Toyo MTs with a 4300# E-rating

 

You need that extra weight rating with all the junk you have been putting on that truck!
I think you should swap trucks with me that wayyou will be safer!
