I am about to get new tires, and due to the price they keep being the tire I'm leaning to. They aren't my first pick, but I have heard lots of good about them and see a lot of them around so hopefully that is a good sign.

I am mostly wondering how they have lasted for guys on here, I drive about 50k a year, so I need comething that will hopefull last me more than 6 months. I drive mostly on road, some gravel roads, and MILD off road (hunting/working, not playing)

I am thinking I'm gonna get the 295/75 16.

I was in your shoes about a year ago. They weren't my first choice but they are very reasonably priced. I've got about 18k on mine and I'm very happy with them. I don't think they will last 50k, but they ride smooth and quiet and have done fairly well for me in mud. I expect to get around 35-40k out of them. I don't think you will be disappointed with them.

I have a set of grapplers,285/75/16 10 ply. I put them on last fall and seem to be a great tire. The ride and handling is great and so is the traction. I have about 17,000 on my set and Im very pleased with them. I drive a lot of gravel roads, dirt roads , and in fields because of my ranch work. They show very little wear and I think they will do at least 40,000+ miles.

40k is what I am hoping for. If I could see 50 that would be awesome, but I'm not gonna expect it out of em...

just adding to the original question,
I'm lookin at getting a set in about 5k miles; i mainly drive around town but i still enjoy the weekend romps around the dirt patches. Are the Terra Grapplers a good tire all around, i really don't want a strict on road tire but on the other hand I don't want a tire that is going to have a lot of road noise.

In my opinion they are a very good all around tire. Mine are quiet but when your truck is straight-piped tire noise isn't really an issue.

well here's what i can say about them....i got the 285/75/16

they are brand new. 500 miles total on them...as stated if your straight piped the noise is not even a concern...they are soft so i dont know abut the longevity of them...they handle WONDERFULLY in the wet weather and dirt is good...

my only concern would be the vibration...i hope this is due to the tire being so new and the ply's needing to settel out...at first when i drove on the freeway i would get a bad vibration at 65 mph..that setteled out in a few trips on the freeway...tires needed to heat up....then a small vibration at 70 and that setteled out as well..now it is a small vib at 70 but again i am hoping that it will go away....

i know that the more i drive them they will settel out they just need the heat to break down some of the rigidness...i also know that you are supposed to get them re-balanced at about 1000 miles..i may or may not do this it depends on the vibration and if it continues.

hope this helps.

I have the 295/75's and I have pulled a trailer quite offten, and I have only 10,000 miles on them and they are wearing quite rappidly. I would suggest that if you want tires that are going to last for pulling, find some more heavy duty ones.

NCA, if yours are vibrating you need to take them back to the tire shop and tell them you are getting a vibration and have them recheck the balance. I work part time at a Tires Plus, and I know what happens sometimes with some of these lazy kids that work in places like this. 285's take a little more weight to balance, sometimes people think that if you are off by .75 oz or so that you won't feel it. I see people do this once in a while and it gets to me. Take them back and have them balanced correctly. If they still vibrate, it is a possible out of round tire.

I had a set of 285/75/16 Grapplers on mine and they were OK. Traction and noise was fine. I was very disappointed that I only got 27,000 miles out of them. I do mostly city driving. When I tow, it is usually heavy loads. I do not tow often enough to warrant such low miles. I would suggest to go with a different brand if you are looking for mileage. I'm currently running Bridgestone Revo's. From the research I did it seems most people with 3/4 ton's or bigger where getting good mileage with the revo's. They are more $$ but I was able to get a discount due to the poor mileage on the Grapplers.
Currently have about 2500 miles on the Revo's, so its a little early to tell if they will last 50,000 but looks good so far.

got a set of 295's and i tow a dump trailer alot (in the 20k range). they are still in real good shape and looks like should get 50k out of them. drive mostly on the highway but do get into the unimproved job sites with no problem. i am sold on them for my next set too. also i drive about 1k miles a week.
