Newbie-06 ram ctd

Just bought my first Dodge on Wed last week. 2006 Ram 2500 Cummins quad cab with auto and 3.73 gears. Love the truck so far for 300 miles. Hope I made the right decision going this route, came from a 2003 Chev 2500 HD with 6.0 gas, good truck but mileage was killing me. Just curious what to expect and anything to look out for. Not sure if I am going to chip or not, that is why I am here, to see what works best for me. One thing is for sure is that the engine is nice and quiet but I would like a little more noise from the exhaust.-Frog

What to look for, depends on what you are sensitive to....

Me, I am buying a motor with which I will be towing / daily driving for 8-10 years. The rest of the truck is relatively gravy.

I've heard of AC blend door problems; posi not locking aggressively enough, occasional injector problems, and some misc electrical problems.

All these problems are relatively minor, compared to some of the problems of the other 2 mfr's. I know you weren't asking about brands...just had to justify for myself, yet again.

Oh, yeah, welcome to the site!

Welcome to this Site. Your gonna luv that truck. I have a friend in Ingleside Texas that just bought the same truck you have. He's been a gas driver forever. It took everything I knew to get him away from a 6.0 in Ferd. Now that he has it, he can't stay home.

I don't think it wise to chip her up till she's broke in good. That could be awhile. Change the muffler on the tunnel thats called a exhaust system.
Never heard a new one with no muffler! You got enough power in there already. There are many here who will disagree with that.

My ole 2000 has gone thru 2 sensors and one lift pump up front in 155k. Its still stock, gets 18.5-20 on the hwy depending on my speed.
