Question New truck mileage

When getting a new truck, whats a good mileage range to expect? It seems that if a dealer has to get a truck from another dealer he will drive the truck instead of having it hauled. I'm thinking that as I'm spending $40K on a truck I should be getting a truck with no more than 10-15 miles on it.

I brought mine home with 37 miles.

Its whatever floats your boat. If 10-15 is your criteria, then tell him you'll pass; or go to that other dealer - but you'll have to drive that far to buy it. For these trucks, I wouldn't let a hundred miles+ bother me a bit.

Some things to consider:
If you're buying it off a lot, I wouldn't worry about it; its still a new truck. Now if you ordered it, that may be a different story.

Is this a special truck that is optioned out in a special way for you?

If that truck is "your truck", it'll still be brand new; and after 50,000 or 120,000 those extra miles up front will fade quickly.

Maybe some dealer/sales folks will chime in with what they've seen.

I just picked up a new Jeep Liberty. It was a company ordered car, not off the lot. It had a total of THREE miles on it when I picked it up. Never got a new one yet that had that little milage. So much for the PDI inspection drive.

I picked mine up with about 500 miles on it. No big deal, It's still under warranty and it just meant that if I wanted too I could start hauling with it and boy did I. I hauled a$$ right out of the dealership at about 65mph down the highway

When I begin test driving 05's, I plan to rack up a few miles on auto's and 6 speeds checking for the various issues 600 owners have mentioned. I plan to order, so none of the trucks I'll be testing, I plan to buy. Looking at the other side of the coin, for me to spend 40 large, I want to be sure it's something I'll be happy with, and to do that, I'll be putting some miles on what will become other peoples trucks.

If you order, yeah, there should be 10-15 miles not counting what you put on doing a test drive before signing, imho. However, if I take a truck for a test drive, then you stop by an hour later and do the same, then we both end up ordering because it's not exactly what we want, then by the time the third, or maybe 10th guy sees our demo as exactly what he wants, it's got a 100 miles on it, and he's . "But I want a new truck, he tells the salesman"
