This is from the 05 Service Manual for the steering box:

1). Tighten the mounting bolts to 196 N·m (145 ft. lbs.).

2. Align steering coupler (1) on gear shaft (2). Install
pinch bolt and tighten to 49 N·m (36 ft. lbs.) torque.

I am resurecting this old thread for a definitive answer...

I have a 2003 with the 2008+ steering linkage. My steering box is loose and leaking...I want to go with the new mopar heavy box.

From the pics on page 2 it seems like I can use the pitman arm and the end link from the 2008+, IE: the heavy box should bolt up. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks,

Chay

The new Mopar big box includes a pitman arm and a tie rod end. The included pitman arm is designed to work with either the early (Haltenberger) linkage or the 08.5 and later, as long as you are not lifted. The tie rod included with the new big box is only for allowing you to use the big new gear and pitman arm with the Haltenberger linkage. You do not need the tie rod end included with the new gear for the 08.5 & later linkage. I just bought the box and these are instructions that came with it.
