??? Need some help on a purchase please->
??? Need some help on a purchase please->
Well here is my little dilemma.
I had originally intended to order a Dodge Diesel 3500. As you probably already know Dodge is in progress of changing the Diesel for some reason and orders are being backlogged. I found a dealer that has the exact truck I want plus if I get it I can be guaranteed 0% financing for 36 months. Should I wait and order a truck and take a risk with the new engine system and possibly lose the 0% financing???? Or buy the truck off the dealer’s lot now and have the old engine (H.O.) setup and get the 0%. Plus I keep toying with the idea of getting a DuraMaxx with the Alison trans.
So I am really confused right now! ??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If I were you, (having just recently wrestled with this dilemma all except the duramax part) I would be trotting down to the dealer and whipping up a deal on the one you've found on the lot that you like.
Here was my rationale:
1. We don't know what exactly will be the "new" engine if any. EGR? Higher hp/torque? How long will it take?
2. What will the "new" engine have as far as new problems?
3. Cost increase on the "new" engine?
4. I can modify this engine for $500ish and get up to 90hp/150lbft vs a new engine cost.
5. Plenty of satisfied customers already with the 3Gen.
6. I had found one that my wife liked (remember the 3Gen is her truck) and I liked as well, so...........why wait?
Good luck. Do whatever you will be comfortable with and enjoy.

I agree with PHX. If it was me, I'd take the one on the lot and also take advantage of the financing incentive. The duramax conflict never entered into my equation.

I agree with the rest. If you see one that you like, then take it home today ;D ;D
No matter what you do you will find some regret over somthing down the road no matter what. At least this way you are driving one now and trade later when they decide to change the things that those of use that hav eone would like to have changed

I agree with the others. I ordered my truck on September 18th and still don't have it. It is built and on a railcar in Laredo Texas, and not suppose to be at the dealers until 12/22. It was one of the last 03 spec'ed HO to be put into the 04 trucks! If I could have found one on the dealer lot that was close to what I ordered, I would have purchased it!
I think the new 04.5 HO are going to have some serious restriction from EPA on them. Bombing may be a lot more costly! EPA fines $$$$$$ plus $'s to get around the smog system.
My suggestion, Buy the one on the dealers lot that you like!
