need official dodge documentation on hitch !

Hello ,

We have a big problem here whit the inspection company who give out the license on cars .
For each car we import we need to do a indivitual inspection wich will take a hole day and quite some money.
the car is not abig problem whit some light changes they will allow it for the european road ,but the hitch and ratings on towing are a big problem !

The want a official document from dodge/chrysler whit the towing ratings on it and a contruction drawing whit calculations of strength whit it to get it on our license ,otherwise we are not allowed to tow anything !

I tried it whit all kind of documents from internet but they won't accept it

The dodge/chrysler here in europe won't help because the trucks are never officialy imported in europe so I hope somebody here know somebody who can help us out or have a contact ad dodge/chrysler that can help us !

We will be very gradefull if we sulf this problem finally .

answer

I got an answer from chrysler today not the on I hoped for !

This is what they say ,

Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center.

As a manufacturer, Chrysler does not support the movement of our
vehicles from the country of manufacture and sale to another country. We
sell vehicles specifically built to operate in many countries, and
support those markets with parts and service only for those specific
vehicles.

In addition, Chrysler does not assist in any way with the importation or
exportation of vehicles. As a matter of corporate policy, we are unable
to supply written specifications, or modification information, for
importing/exporting of vehicles.

For information concerning requirements for importing or exporting a
vehicle from one country to another, please contact an import/export
company, or the governmental agency that sets safety and emissions
requirements for the country in question.

I am sorry I cannot give you a more favorable reply.

Thanks again for your email.

They won,t send info outside the usa ,

Is there someone who wants to help me get a tow rating for my truck from dodge or a dodge dealer on a company paper ?

would be very gradefull !!

The first thing they will need is the weight the truck can tow which they want on a official paper from the manufactorer ,the reciever is the next thing maybe I can find a constructor who can make a drawing from it whit a strenght calculation on it here .

It's just a money making thing because there are dozens of dodge's imported but every one is unique due to the fact there is no european certificate on it ,just a stupid rule !

I am a bit confused--

My factory hitch has the weight ratings on a sticker/plate near the receiver box (at least my 2001.5 did -- wife has the truck on a camping trip, so I can't check my 2006.)

The driver's door has the ratings of the truck, including combined weight, which talks about axle weights, tire weights, inflation rates, gross vehicle rate, and gross combined rate. My 2006 owner's manual also has the specifications for the different hitch classes (Class IV is on my truck from factory, 10,000 lbs. rated), as well as what the step bumper is rated for.

Check the owners manual. It should have most of the information for what you need under towing with your truck. Ex-specially trucks that have the factory tow package. As for diagrams, there should be some simplistic pictures in the book also showing weight distribution and and effects on cornering.
