LT295/70/R17 NITTO TERRA GRAPPLER

I just upraded my tires to a LT295/70/R17 D Load Nitto Terra Grapplers. Not only does the truck ride much smoother but I was hoping to raise the Sweet Spot gas milage wise up to about 70 instead of 65. The truck drives like a dream at 65 with the stock tires, but around here you can get killed only going 65mph. I know that gas milage won't improve with bigger tires but I'm just trying to move the drone up a few MPH also. I won't call it the 70MPH vibration that some people talk about, but my truck is definatley a little bit buzzy from 70 to 80 with the stock tires.

So far I've driven about 100 miles with the new tires and I'm very impressed. The ride is very smooth, they are just a little more noisey than the stock BFG's. I have'nt had the speedo recalibrated yet so I don't know how far the speedo's off but I think it's about 5 mph.

IMO this is the size that should have come from the factory on this truck. It looks perfect on the stock alloys and fills up the wheel wells nicely with no rubbing so far.

I don't tow heavy but to all the naysayers that say don't use a D-load, this tire is rated at 3470lbs at 65 psi. The factory BFG is rated at around 3195 at 80 psi. I can run the new tire at a much lower pressure and still get the same load capacity, hence the much smoother ride. The increase in weight rating is due to increase in air volume in the tire to dissipate heat. One less sidewall ply also contributes to a smoother ride. I figure if change to Bilstein shocks this thing will ride like a Caddy. Sorry for the ramble. Pictures coming soon. O.E. tires for sale in classifieds.

I'm not on here to sell tires to anyone . I'm just excited about my new tires and I should not have put my price in my post. I own a tire store so I bought them wholesale from a place called Wheel-Pros. If anyone has a tax number they may be able to call Wheel-Pros direct and get a similar price on tires from them. They sell the Toyo's also. I'd say that around $850, out the door, with tax, would be a great deal at any retail tire store. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Also, pictures are up

Charcoal, can't you see my pictures in the gallery?

Hows life in Laramie, I went to the Tech school out there back in 1986. I kind of miss it out there, lots of room to roam. I have a quad now and there is no place to ride locally. No place to off rode with my truck either. 312 S. Cedar was the addres of the fifty year old house we rented when we were there. I still remember it was $350 per month split four ways

gatf4, when you get the speedometer recalibrated does this take care of the fuel injection rate also? I didn't have to worry about this on my last truck (FJ-60 Landcruiser - no EFI) but I'm out of the stone age now. Thanks.

I'm no expertt but I thought it would only change the output shaft speed sensor in trans, or some Dodges use the rear Wheel speed sensor from ABS system in the Diffo to work the speedo. As far as I know it shouldnt change any Fueling parameters at all. ????

I'm no expert either but I'd guess if you put taller tires on, you could benefit from a reduced rate of fuel injection (leading to better mpg). I'd think this would be done by a flash. Any educated opinions on this? Thanks.

If you can find sombody local to mount and balance them, www.discounttiredirect.com sells these Nittos for $169 a piece with free shipping.

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...95&ar=70&rd=17

The only thing that concerns me with the Nittos is that people have said the sidewalls are weaker than most comparable tires.

I wish is were easier to find a vendor that carries the Toyo Open Country M/Ts. They have an E load rating and a 3 ply casing and sidewall.
