Mirror glass instalation?

hello, I have a 2005 diesel with heated, power towing mirrors. I cracked the glass on the drivers side. I had new glass put in the origanal frame. My problem is that I can't attach the glass/plastic part back to the trucks mirror frame. It has 5 snap together spots, but I can't pop them back together. I think the glass may break, any suggestions? I have tried searching here, no luck. Thanks

I don't think this is exactly what your looking for, but then again, if it is, then I hope it helps.

Done this about 7 times now with my own truck and a friends. The glass is a HUGE pain to get out. Good news, very easy to install. After hooking up the wires, line up the the 4 or 5 prongs that are in the FRAME to the back of the glass. There in a circle. After you have them aligned, slightly push in... not too hard. After you have it aligned, slide the glass side ways toward the window.... passanger or driver side... don't matter. It will only move about 1/2 inch. Trust me, its in. If you have difficulty trying to slide the glass, use a larger putty knife. Slide the knife between the mirror edge and the Mirror frame.... push the glass sideways towards the window. Real simple. Hope this helps.

Thanks dslpwr81, I tried your method with a putty knife. I just seem to keep knocking it off the center ball. My mirror is folded in,not in the towing position.Does it make any difference, folded out or in? Does the temperature make a difference? My truck is in a barn without heat. The temps have been around freezing.

Temp shouldn't matter. The first time can be a bugger. Folded down is how I installed them. Just keep at it. Pay close attention to the snaps when your lineing it up. Look at all the little pieces on the back side of the mirrow around the edges. They all have to align perfectly with the frame clips. Once its aligned, slide'er over. If you take it to the dealer, one of there guys could probably do it in about 30 seconds. I wouldn't think they would charge you for that. Never know though.

On the temps if its that cold keep in mind that the clips are plastic and im shure they were not made by the highest bidder.....I replaced mine as well it just snaped in for me no muss or fuss when its in right you will know....while u have it off take some die grease and place it on and in the connectors for the mirror heat..just an idea
