Megacab and Bestop supertop
Megacab and Bestop supertop
I just recieved my Bestop Supertop and tried to install it. The instructions call for the side rails to be 63.5" apart, the problem is the bed is 65.5" wide at the front and 62.25" wide at the rear, so it won't sit on the bed rails in the front. Is there a difference in width of the crewcab and megacab? The top looks like it's well made but just won't fit. Could someone measure the width of a crewcab (I measured inside width at front and just forward of the tailgate.
Thanks for you're reply. I measured a couple trucks last night and the crewcab, regularcab and megacab are all the same. I spoke to an engineer at Bestop this morning and he confirmed that the top isn't made for a tapering bed. The top sits fine in back but barely sits on the rails in front, infact it sits inside the lumber rack holes so there is a direct hole to let water into the bed. The clamps they send with the kit don't have enough purchase to grab the bed rail. In my opinion it is poorely designed. The engineer said that it would cost alot more to make one that fits properly so I guess I'm S.O.L. Atleast 4WheelParts didn't give me any grief returning it. If any of you are considering a folding camper shell I'd go with the Canback.
