Mega cab info

Anyone reading my posts about the fact that I am considering upgrading 2nd gen to a 3rd gen knows this is big decision for me that I refuse to rush into.

I recently was talking to a pretty knowlegeable salesman (about CTD's.) When I brought up the mega cab, he said yes it was due to come out late this year and only in a short bed. He said the only way DC can get that much cab on the frame is to shorten the bed. He said DC is currently designing a longer frame for a mega cab with a long bed. I guessed that would be around 2007 and he replied that when he thinks it would be released too. I didn't ask but I was thinking I guess a lot of it is base on the demand when the mega cab is released. I also thought that maybe this longer frame would be good the begining platform for 4500 or 5500 trucks

Hopefully cool stuff for the future,

James

I was reading on www.pickuptruck.com in the Dodge forums. A poster over there named redriderbob seems to be the goto source for the DC rumor mill. Anyway, he lives in Michigan and saw two megacab trucks with the camo running around on the interstate. He said one was a long box, the other a dually. He said neither truck had a cap on top like the spy photos we've all seen, therefore he could determine that they were definitely long boxes. If DC is going to make 4500/5500 cab & chassis models, they're going to need different frames anyway. I guess we will all find out at the Chicago Auto Show next month. I can't wait.

Re: Mega cab info

I was talking to a 3rd gen owner at the gas station, and found out he works "Works for Chrysler". We got to talking about the mega-cab, and he said with a big grin on his face " I can't discuss the existance or non, of the mega cab. All I can say is they are working on bigger trucks and newer models."

Hmmmm.... Mega cab long box Ram 5500 with 21 or 22,000# trailer capability...

Add a choice of 7 speed stick or finally an auto that works with a jake... and the 690 ft/lb version of the ISB, or better yet an ISC...

When can I order mine?
