made in ? #1 or #3

I have somewhat narrowed my search down to a 2008 2500 6.7 reg cab. I went to 4 dealers to see if they could guarantee that the truck I would order would be made in USA. 1 dealer said all 2008 diesels are made in Mexico. The others tell me they don't know and won't guarantee a USA truck. I have searched different sites but have not found anything concrete. Anyone have any knowledge or links to info about this? Thank you in advance for any responses.

as far as I know the diesels are still made in the U.S. and Mexico

vin starts with
1-U.S.A
3-Mexico

I wouldn't be afraid of buying a truck assembled in Mexico (my truck was assembled in Mexico and I haven't had any issues)

Mine is an 06 from Mexico and my friend has an 07 from USA so I wouldn't think they would change for 08

You may wind up with better paint on a Mexican truck

I could be wrong but I think the only configuration you can get from the us plant is a automatic quad cab I read that somewhere but dont hold me to it.

whats the difference you get a warranty

I know when I bought mine there were four I was looking at, all quad cabs, all autos. The two 8' bed models were made in Mexico, the two 6.5' bed models were made in St. Loius. I'm not saying for sure that that made difference, but that's the way it was for me. I'm not sure where you are located, but Richmond Dodge, in Richmond Mi., said that they could order me a truck made in America.

From what I have researched, there are less problems and better made trucks in mexico. Higher Work ethic

My current (04 CTD) and former (02 Escalade EXT) trucks both built in Mexico; both have had zero problems over a combined 220,000 miles.

Actually I think it has to do with the fact that there is only a fraction of the automation in the Mexico plant. It's cheaper to pay 3 or 4 people to do the work then to buy and install a robot, so all the trucks are basically hand built.
I was also told that a large majority of the workers at the Saltillo plant work for 2 or 3 months and the take then rest of the year off because they made enough to eke by. The engineer that gave me that info also said the paint there is better largely due to the fact that the don't have to pass the same EPA standards that they do over here.

make a post in the 07.5 section and i think there is a guy who hangs out in there that works at the st louis plant he could probably give you an answer and I am positive there is only certain combos available from the us plant not sure which but like I said before I think they are all quad cab autos

From the research that I did way back in late 2003 when I ordered my 2004, the 1500 series were being built in the USA and the 2500 & 3500's were being built in Mexico.
