Longing for a Second gen

Ok guys, I'm in a bit of a quandry here. I keep riding in my buddies second gens and I really miss the comfort and style of them.

I realize that I have a 05 3500 with all the bells and whistles but I really miss the overall comfort of my second gen 98 quad cab eventhough it was a gasser.

If I had done my homework I'd have had a 2001 2500 6spd with everything.

I still find myself longing for a second gen.

Am I cracked or what?

Rick

Where do you hold your meetings at?

I will help you Rick. You will take a terrible beating on the depreciation loss on your 05! It has better brakes. It has a better frame. It has all the bells and whistles (as you say).

Your truck looks great! Maybe you could do some more bombing on it (maybe get that trans built or at least change VB and Torque Converter). What about stacking a Smarty CR with your Quad box? Turbo? Flux injectors?

I like the way the 2nd gens look and sound too. But your truck looks GREAT! I say keep it.

Another idea....is to get yourself an old beat up 1st or 2nd gen CTD and Fix'er up as a toy. But keep your 05 for primary tranportation.

I like my 3rd gen. Some friends have the 2nd gens and they are nice, but limited in cab space. But what I would really like is having a 12v in mine, or at least a P7100 pump setup.

I have both a 2nd and a 3rd.

No doubt the 3rd gen is much more refined and easier to drive.

I think that you should be dam glad that you have a almost new truck, and stick with it. No matter how carefully you shop for a used truck you can still end up with some one elses head ache.

If the 01.5 I had before my present truck had the drivetrain this 05 has I would have never have sold the 01.5. I really miss that style of the 01. Don't get me wrong I love my 05 but do miss my old 01.5.

Yes, I know about the brake issues and what a PITA they are (good point)
I agree that the cab was limited also.

I do however prefer the Dana axels.

I've checked local pricing and nice looking 01's are going for 15k-25k$ with 35k-150kmiles on them. The 10k I'd save in payments would buy a lot of toys!

Yes I have to agree that my truck is pretty sharp looking with the chicken hauler lights and sunroof

The front drivers seat is just a heck of alot more comfortable in the second gens than in my 05. Maybe I'll just have the front seats re padded and re upholstered and call it good.

The brakes on my 01.5 never had a problem. I didn't even know there were any brake problems.

I just sold my 01 and I am in love with my 06 I don't think I could ever go back to a 2nd gen, the 3 gens are sooooooo nice, ride, power, interior room.

I would keep the 05
