Lockable Bed Covers for Mega Cab
Lockable Bed Covers for Mega Cab
Looking for suggestions on the best Lockable Hard Bed Covers for 2008 Mega Cab.
Want something that will lock and keep out the rain when travelling and I can still put an ATV in the back with it unextended.
Thanks,
Keith

Undercover - I've had mine for about four years now and still really like it. I can move and remove it by myself if I have to, but it is a lot easier with two people.
www.undercoverinfo.com They're around $600 last time I checked...
On EDIT - I just re-read your post. This is a single piece cover, but like I said it can be removed by one person, and it takes about 2 minutes to remove and re-install. Sorry - not sure if that's going to fit your requirements.

I've looked at some of the roll and locks like you mentioned and that seems to be more of what I'm leaning towards because they seem to take up less space if I'm putting the ATV in the back.
Any input on the roll and locks would be great.
Thanks

Here's another vote for the Undercover. I do exactly what you're describing - put my ATV's in my short bed. And I have BIG machines, Polaris Sportsman 500's and 700's.
The Undercover is a one-piece cover (which has a bunch of inherent advantages anyway). When I need to haul an ATV or anything else that is taller than the cover will allow, I simply remove it and either 1) leave it at home, or 2) if on the road I just set it on edge in the bed next to the ATV or whatever I'm carrying. I have a box of straps that is always in the truck (you need straps for ATV/whatever anyway) and a couple of extra straps makes sure the cover doesn't leave the bed even with the tailgate open.
When you ARE using the cover, a hard one-piece like the Undercover is more secure, handles rain and snow better, and when it's removed it's COMPLETELY out of the way and consumes zero bed space (unlike rollups and foldups which usually consume space in the front of the bed). It also ages better because it never develops tears, doesn't have hinge problems, dirt doesn't affect it, handles drive-through carwashes, doesn't rattle while you drive down the road, etc. etc. etc.
I researched this for a long time, finally settled on the Undercover, and could not possibly be happier. If I had it to do over again I would buy another Undercover immediately. It works perfectly for the situation you describe.
No affiliation except as a very satisfied customer.

Bakflip is the only way to go roll and locks take up too much room at the front of the box. Bakflip folds up and out of the way easy. Also easy to completely remove and awsome customer service. I looked at them all talked to friends with all types and all agree that Bakflip is the way to go.
I did something a little different. I have a truxedo rollup cover with a electric tailgate lock. The bed cover rolls all the way up to the cab so that you can use the complete bed. With the tailgate lock no body can get into unless they cut the toneu cover completely off.
Been looking at adding one of these to my truck. Do you guys hve some pictures of what they look like, and perhaps a pic of what they looked like when they are rolled/folded out of the way? Thanks
