It seems every time i get off the pavement when ground wet truck sinks and wont come out. Does anyone else have this problem. I do have the stock Michelins if that makes a difference. Does anyone else have this problem or is my goat cursed? Hell i almost got stuck pulling someone else out once. What gives????

Mine did when it had the bfg rugged trails. Now I have Maxxis Buckshots in a 285/70/17. Its better but wife chevy gasser is lighter and better in the mud.

Yes, it is a very common problem. Last time I mentioned it there were people telling me how I just simply didn't know how to drive.

Lots of weight, lots of torque = gets stuck in wet grass very easily.

Only thing I figure out that helped was feathering the brake pedal as I was moving through slippery stuff. (on an auto).

I was asked to pull a Z-71, out of a field one night, which seems to happen alot? and got on it a little too much and got stuck, long story short I went back and got my 89 ramcharger with 36's and lockers and got both trucks out. A ton of weight + 20" rims on 37's= NO floation

with them tires yes, they are for the pavement. You need mud terrains just to get around in wet grass in these trucks.

Yeah I know how you feel. I changed tires and it's better.

The front likes to sink and with those pizza cutters it sinks quick.

I'm getting ready to sell my 4x2 (and take a huge hit) and get 4x4 just b/c I never realized how easily the 4x2 would get stuck. I know the 4x4 will be in a different league, but I'm surprised to hear how easily it can get stuck! I'll just have to plan on upgrading the stock all-seasons to a slightly more agressive tire once I get a 4x4!! ...or just look for a truck with the on/off-road tire option.

Do you have rear limited slip differential? I don't know if that would make a huge difference with a 4x4 but I've seen several 2008's without this.

I can get my truck stuck on wet grass with the Michelins. No longer have that issue with the Toyo's.

I think the main problem is most of our trucks weigh 7k pounds to start with and I have forgotten about that some myself. the one time I had my truck in mud I did have toyo at tires on it and I didnt get stuck. I also had an 18ft car trailer behind me also and I was only trying to turn around NOT show off and almost got stuck but it kept moving. there is no way those stock michelins would have made it thru this stuff

Yea I had a serious dumb moment my senior year n decided to take the Cummins muddin n then drive to the game... yea not the best idea i forgot how heavy they were n i only had all terrains. yea as you could have guess i got stuck and even had to have a ford gasser pull me out... now I have buckshots and can go in 2wd where it used to require 4wd. I've even pulled out a ford to redeem the cummins since then.

On stock tires your 4wd wont go where gas 2wd's will go. Get wider tires with a better tread pattern the stock tires are crap off the pavement.

here are some weight numbers from my megacab with a 1/4 tank of fuel and without me inside.
Front 4360
Rear 2540
total 7200
So as you can see the front carries alot more wieght than the rear which is to be expected with a pickup, but the diesel does not help in that matter.

Its all in the tires. Street tires just don't get you anywhere in mud.

I have Yokohama AT-S Tires right now and I embarrass myself some days in my own yard moving trailers around in the mud. Always having to shift into 4wd. Had a bad rain storm one night and had to go out and repair the sump pump. Pulled into the side yard and completely buried the front end. It sank like a rock.

You gota keep these heavy turds moving to get through the deep stuff. I had to travel a mudd road the other day that was washed out between a few fields. Did real well as long as I kept the rpm up and the tires movin.
