Lighting choices - NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE!

o.k. here's the deal - for my anniversary, my wife bought me some Recon cab lights - as it turns out, she bought the wrong ones, so I have to exchange them.(also got me a line of fire red led strip for the tailgate)

o.k. here's where the problem lies - along with the lights, they include a catalog and I see a 3rd led tailight that I must have.

I have a Mineral Gray 3500 - if I go with the smoked lenses for the cab, should the 3rd brake light match it or should it be red to match the tailights and line of fire???????

We can't decide, so I thought I'd throw it out to you guys and you decide for me!

Thanks!! AndNo problem... You will actually get a similar write up in the new recon cab lights!!! Done by your truely for their products!!! Just finished the install on a truck this weekend and did the whole kit and kaboodle from wiring to drilling holes to having a template installed!!!

Oh and not to sound like a dufusss by if you can edit your post you'll need to remove the spelling above or you'll get in trouble.. Just a fair warning.. They're trying to keep the site extremely clean!!

Go with the RECON smoked cab lights and the smooked third brake light....you won't regret it.

Shane....I actually just put the smoked RECON cab lights on my son's Dakota! I had to modify the template a little on the outside lights on both sides...but it turned out GREAT!! It was a small graduation present before we drive him out to AZ on Sat.

Bummer deal is....I wired his and the lights blink when he locks/unlocks (I just found the right wire to splice into under the dash)...but on the RAM, I wired as directed and they don't blink.

He's kinda happy, he feels one-up on me. Little does he know I rigged them to leak!! LOL!! Just kidding!!!

Sadly....I only had a TOTAL of 9 working lights! So, whats a loving dad do? I pulled one off my truck, re-wired it for the Dak...and put the 10th (broken) one back on my truck till I order more.

Yep, I used the RAM template (I had the kid go make another copy, and wouldn't you know he got it done $2 CHEAPER than me!!)...which worked well for the three center lights. The outside lights needed to be moved in proportionally to the width of the cab. I made some measuerments, did a little eyeball line up, then I added the position onto the template. Measured 25 times....then drilled. I'll take some pix this weekend. We were concerned the lights might be too big....but once they were up there they look good (better than the OEM lights when we just set them up there to get an idea how they'd look).

And heck....once you take down ONE headliner....you get a little cocky and figure they're all about the same (which it was....mostly)!! LOL!
