Leveling kit after Ranchhand legend bumper

I got the bumper installed about a week ago. The shop told me I needed a leveling kit! Am I getting hosed for is this or is it the correct thing to do for safety with ABS brakes etc.

Uhh, you don't need a leveling kit unless you want the truck to sit level or fit larger tires.

Who told you you need a leveling kit for safety and brakes?

I was looking at the Mopar front leveling kit. One suggested use was to "pick-up" the front end droop after installation of heavier winch bumpers. Maybe that's what is needed in your case?

Ah. Well they could be trying tp upsell you lol A leveling kit is up to you of you don't like how the front end sags (if it even does - post pics!). It won't do anything for your brakes. That what brake pads and rotors are for.

If the bumpstops are close I can see that so you don't bottom out. But you really shouldn't need a leveling kit "for safety".

Any idea how much that bumper weighs? My Frontier is just under 200lbs and the truck hardly notices its up there.

I'm guessing you had an offroad shop do this, I would guess they are trying to upsell you to make some easy cash. No need for a leveling kit, if that was the case you would need one for a plow to as they weight much more then a bumper and no plow manufactures require the leveling kit for install of their plows.

It does sound like they are trying to make an additional sale. I would say it is up to you if there are no suspension or clearance issues. I have a Ranch Hand Legend bumper and a front leveling kit. Looks good with the 285's. Although I doubt it is necessary.

I would be surprised if the front end sagged a half inch. No need for a leveling kit. It's for looks or to fit bigger tires. If you do get a leveling kit, I would buy one yourself and put it in with a friend. It's an easy task and I'm sure the markup at the shop is high. I've always bought mine for under $70.
