Shipping a ranchhand bumper

I just purchased a ranchhand bumper on e bay for $26.00, but the guy won't ship it. I am prepared to drive for it, but it will be a long, long, long trip. I have a friend near the bumper who is going to pick it up and hold it till I make it down there.

I was just curious if anyone knew of any other way to get this bumper from Pheonix area to St. Louis area besides me taking the drive personally?

Thanks James

Bucket relay.

Get a bunch of members from each state on the way relay it to you.

Have a cold six pack waiting at each drop off point as a thank you.

If I was on the route, I'd volunteer.

Seriously though.
It will cost around 200 smackers to ship it.
You'd have to crate it and get it to a freight company.

My DOR, about half the weight of the Ranch-hand,
would have cost 150 bucks to ship, including the price of the crate.
Friend of a friend happened to be going through and picked it up and dropped it off in my driveway for $50.
It would have cost double that just for the fuel to go pick it up myself.

Phox,

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping it would not have to be crated. Since you are on admin here, Can I solicit business without violating forum rules. I know I can't sell on forums, but....

I am willing to make the drive, but it will be 48 straight hours, and I don't know if I have that much time off from work.

Just trying to get some id-ers,

James

Have your bud bubble wrap and duct tape the living daylights out of it and put it on Roadway or Bestway freight. Maybe even gave hin band it to a pallat for ease of moving. Might cost ya a 100.00 bucks or so..... but it'll save ya that much in fuel alone....

I'd guess 2-3 times that. Freight companies extend deep discounts to commercial establishments that do frequent business with them. A private individual is going to pay the full rate. If you go the shipping route, take the bumper to the freight terminal, and pick it up there at your end, you will save plenty.

To get an idea on shipping costs and carriers, you might try www.freightquote.com . Something that sturdy shouldn't need a whole bunch of packing, I wouldn't think, so you might be able to talk your buddy into dropping it off somewhere for you.

I'll be in the Tyler, TX area between Aug 16. to 19 or 20th. If you can get it to me there, or close by I'd get it at least back to Kansas City for ya.

Thanks for everybody's responses. I was hoping to find a hotshotter who would be moving between the two destinations. He could tie the bumper strait down to the trailer between the cars.

I am going to keep on trying, but I am having a difficult time getting in touch with the seller

Hope it still goes through

You bought a full replacement for $26! That is ridiculous. I've seen ones beat to heck for $200.

www.forwardair.com -- my 176lb cylinder head has been to texas and back for $50 each way. The only catch is that you have to pick it up/drop it off at their terminal. One time it made it back here in 28 hours. It took me ~18.5h to drive the same trip with my truck! I'd say thats fairly fast for dirt cheap. They even provide the pallet if you ask for one.
