Left tie rod end failure

Quick question...I was 3 hrs from home today and had my left tie rod fail. It completely snapped off and the wheel folded inward. Luckily I had just come off the highway and was coming to a stoplight when it snapped...Could have been really bad!

I know there was a recall, but would I still be covered with the truck being an '07? It cost me $100 for the tow and $275 for the fix. Could I be reimbursed for this under that recall or should I just eat this? Thanks

If you were aware of the recall and one as important as a tie rod end why would you not take it in and have it fixed? You not only are playing with fire yourself but are also risking others too.

I would bet they are not going to pay for anything as they do not want the responsibility of someone else replacing a recalled part. In today's world of sue happy people out their I don't blame them.

I was not aware of the recall until it broke on me and I researched it here....Had I been notified or known about this, I would have had it taken care of....

I got several notices. If you're not the original owner that might explain the lack of a notice.
I read about it the newspaper and in truck mags before I got my notice.

Recall

I returned my truck for tie rod end recall . 1 st the dealer reflashed the computer so horn blows if you open door in reverse now ! WTH ! Second it only has 40k on the clock , dealer never looked at tie rod answer was " not enough mileage to be bad " WTH again ! Dodge service sucks near me

Look up the recall through Chrysler and you should find a list of covered trucks. All safety recalls should be covered. Notice or not.
