Talking Left rear door problem on 2005.5

The power door lock on the left rear door doesn't work at all from the switch.
The rear power window will not rool up from either switch but seems to go down but I am not sure as I don't want it all the way down with the bad weather (rain storms) we are supposed to get nearly all week.

I am a retired GM auto/truck electric repair tec so know my way around a digital volt meter and other testers.
I would like a skamitic of this system so I can find the connectors easy and check them for not being fully seated of backed out pins.

Thanks for any help.

Had a similar problem on my ´03 and the problem turned out to be a defective switch cluster in the drivers door. Dealer replaced the cluster under warranty and never had a problem since then.

Thanks for the responce. How ever I don't think the dealer is going to preplace my switch under waranty with well over 100,000 on the meter now.

Al,

Take a look at the body builder files if you dont have them already. Should have the wiring schematics in there.

PDF won't open for me. So testinbg with out benifit of a schematic I found I had power at the window motor itself from the rear door switch both up and down. Up how ever didn't move the window. Down did move the window. So I am inclined to rule it a grounding issue thru the master switch.
Switch pricy thing at nearly $120.00 at the dealer, $45.00 at a salvage yard, And so far Auto Zone is the only parts box store I have found that sells them for $103.00 of course then there is the Michigan 6% sales tax to add in.

Did you check the wiring harness coming through the door? The wiring harness was broken on both rear doors when I got my '03.

Just slide back the rubber protector and you can see if the wires are broken.

My bet is on broken wires in the harness to the back left door. I replaced mine on my 07...5 of the wires where snapped. 37.00 for the entire harness at the dealer. Easy to change. Only difficult part was getting the rubber flex hose ends back in place...uses a small screwdriver.

I would check for broken wires or insulation pulled back on the bend in the wires going to the door from the B-Pillar area. I had a defective door lock problem and that was the cause. All other door locks and windows would work from the drivers door.

Find the Black rubber boot the makes a ninety from the B-Pillar to the Back doors pull the insulation back as far as you can and inspect the wires. Especially, the area were the wires make a bend. The insulation on these wires are really thin and will rub down and pull back causing a short.

You can fix them two ways: (1) Pull the wires from the B-Pillar connector and repair using shrink tubing. (2) Pull and replace the wires with a soldered splice that ends up in the door. Use a new micro box terminal to connect the wires to the B-pillar terminal connector plug.

Went and bought the master switch at auto zone, They give a vetrans discount of 10% too. For referance I called all the major parts shopes like Napa, advanced auto and carquest and auto zone is the only one that has it.

Any way the new switch didn't work either.
Is there any one willing to open the PDF file and either posting it here or E Mailing it to me? Would be nice to know where the connecters are at.
With a schematic I could do a continuity test from the front switch all the way back.

Have you visually checked the wiring in the door as described above?

First thing you do is look at likely places easy to get at.

Any way I gave up and jumped the window motor direct to the battery to roll it up. Left the rear window switch unpluged so some doesn't try to use it and taped over the master switch so that one doesn't roll the window down again.
Not going to pay a dealer those shop rates to fix it either. I can put that money into a service manual with the wiring stuff I need and other stuff.
Can't see gutting the truck and opening wire looms looking for connectors and broken wires either hit or miss.

Thanks for all the Ideas.
