Question LARGER Tires - Mileage

Looked through most of threads and didn't find answers I am looking for.

Really wanting to updgrade from the factory tires on my 2500 mega cab w/ 6.7 Cummins. Just kinda tired of the Pewny Truck look and not exactly sure where to start on the sizes and/or brands to go with.

I am also a conservatist regarding my fuel mileage. I take pride in saying my mileage averages (hand calc) around 17.5-18 any given week. And thats stop/go driving almost all day long. So I also don't want to loose 2-3 mpg's due to the larger tires.

What do you guys/gals recommend? I really LOVE the look of the 37" Toyo's, but I am afraid of the drop in mpg's. Plus I don't want the truck to be lifted so high that I can't pull my gooseneck trailers. Whats a happy medium? I am considering fender flares as well.

If I went basic, basic and simply did a leveling kit what would be the best overall size to go with? I am also considering upgrading to Black aftermarket rims, so I am guessing the width of the tire does not matter too much.

Last thing - if you change the tire size, how can the calculations of mileage be anything but wrong. Due to the fact that with a larger tire, basically the odometer will be turning less revs per mile and in return will make calculations automatically decreasing the mileage. How is this corrected? I have an H&S MiniMaxx Tuner, so will changing the tire size within the tuner counteract the revolutions?

I appreciate all those willing to express opinions - All are welcome.

Bear

I have a 3500 srw with 4.10s and a auto. i leave my programmer all the way up at all times and i drive fairly conservitive. I hand calculate 18.5 to 19 everytime. I am running 315s so it egutes to about a 35. ive got a leveling kit and painted to match fender flares. The combo looks great and i have good power with my truck and still get good mileage i think for a slightly lifted auto with 4.10s. Depending on your tire size u will need a leveling kit. I recomend a 3in kit wit the 35s, levels it out straight and doesnt rub. i am also running aftermarket eagle alloy 17s. As for your programmer, it should change your speedo and odo to match the tires, mine did and it was a big diff. Hope this helps.
