Instrument Cluster for an LED??
Instrument Cluster for an LED??
Well this is an off shoot of the WIF thread. I know mine was working when the truck was new but I have ignored most of the lights during start up since the truck was new. Now the WIF thread got me curious so I looked real close and sure enough mine is no longer illuminating during lamp test.
The service manual indicates that a failure of the lamp to come on requires the instrument cluster to be replaced. This really seems extreme for an LED so I was wondering if anyone had tackled the job of replacing one of the cluster lights?

CamperAndy.
I'd suggest you go over to dodgetalk.com to find information about this subject. There are several guys who have done full led replacements to the cluster, they have great detailed pics, etc, right down to where to get the led's.

I must be asking the question wrong, Lets try this another way.
How many people have noted failed lights in the instrument cluster?
How many of you that have had failed lights have actually taken action? Either on your own or as a warranty issue.
Are there any know TSB for failed lights in the instrument cluster?

I just had one in the speedometer ten oclock position fail tonight. The lamp out indicator and chime came on. I turned the truck off and restarted it. The lamp out indicator is now off but the light is still out. I am open to suggestions.
My WIF light does not illuminate either (Lamp check or otherwise) I was told that it will only come on if there is actually water present, and not on a bulb check... Many have said that it wont come on if water IS present either... Dealership and others on this board have said same thing so it MUST be true..
Might want to try the lamp and gauge test.I think you turn on the ignition with the trip odometer pushed in ,dont start it,then release the odometer button and it tests all the lamps ,the tack and the IC cpu.Its in the service manual.

Even with the lamp test I have two lights that do not come on, the WIF and the Tire check light. I do not have tire sensors so maybe it is fine that one does not work but the WIF should light up during a lamp test.
I tried my lamp test today and my WIF lamp did not come on either, maybe it does not come on during the test,I cant believe its burt out ,I've never seen it come on.I'll check my service mannual and see if I can find anything.
OK checked the service mannual and the WIF LED should come one during the self test and when the ignition is turned on too,so that sucks maybe it is burnt out.But I dont think I have ever seen mine come on ,so maybe the mannual is incorrect. Can someone else see if theirs either lights with the self test or the ignition to verify this, thx.
