Your looking for a green wire with a purple stripe, its in a wire loom with 2 wires on the bottom of the tranny(both mine are green and its hard to see the stripe when the wires are dirty). When I did mine I double checked it with my volt meter buy setting the parking brake, blocking the wheels and putting the tranny in reverse and probing the wires to find the right one(all with the motor off but the key turned to on).
Hope that helps

I wired mine to come on with the park lights, then I could have it on at times other than when in reverse. I use it for hooking up to a trailer and it was annoying to have it go off if I missed the mark and had to pull forward a bit.

If I'm driving at night and don't want it on I just turn off the monitor.

I tapped right into my reverse light in the taillight assembly. Very simple...

I just bought the wiring harness when putting in my dnx8120, and it had the reverse wire that I tied into.

Thanks a bunch guys.

I'm attempting to tie into the bundle under the dash if possible. Jwillams81, I will try and locate that color code under the dash if thats not possible then will connect at the transmission.

Swayse could you expand on the wiring harness are you referring to a factory harness.

I checked with the local dealer and they couldn't find it under the dash and some of the wiring only had 5 volts, what ever that implies.

I doubt there are any reverse light wires under the dash. As far as I know, the reverse lights have always been controlled by a sensor in the transmission. I believe you will have to tap in under the truck....

A wiring harness to install an aftermarket nav, Peripheral CHYAH05. It has a box that converts the CAN-BUS signals into signals you can use for an aftermarket stereo. Reverse wire was there, and it put out 12v when you put into reverse. It also had a VSS wire, and brake wire, but I didn't need those. I just tied the brake wire from the kenwood 8120 to a ground, now I "could" watch dvds while driving.
