I'm Happy...

Last fill up I put in 102 litres of fuel and that took me 654 kms. since the last fill......equates to 18.16 miles per Canadian gallon. This was all city driving except for a short run out in the county with the trailer.

How can you go wrong with these trucks?....I'm happy.

I'll second that. I got 20 MPG hand calculated on a long highway trip... my truck's not even done with its breakin yet, with only 4800 miles on the clock.

I just hope the 14.5 MPG city mileage starts picking up soon!!! My Duramax (when it was running) got 16-17 city even when I abused the crap out of it. but the Duramax was broken in, so I'll wait patiently.

My 04.5 usually gets 16.5 on summer fuel but has dropped down to 15.5 on winter diesel.

I posted this on TDR earlier. I have only pulled a 5 to 7,000# trailer about 20 miles once or twice. 10,400 miles. I am happy!
Date....... miles....gallons.....HC......... CPU......... AVG/MPH
10/31...410.2 ....21.34...19.22....18.9....... 38.63
11/1......525.......28.81....18.22....19.0......... 51.47
11/9..... 277.9 ...18.59.....14.95......15.4......... 21.01
11/11.. 433.5....21.94.....19.76......20.2........... 54.39
It is obvious what tank was in town. the tank on 11/1 was a trip to Houston with 2500# in the back. The rest were empty. I usually fill up anytime I am going on a trip over 300 miles. I just hate filling up in the New Orleans area nowadays. I can't wait to get the AMSOIL in the diff and the tranny
and another 5000 miles so I can put the Rotella synthetic in the motor!

JKA, you'll be even happier once your gauges are in, and you've got that new 5er hooked to the back of that truck headed to the happiest place on earth. You know where i'm talking about.

I've lost almost 2 mpg since it's been getting colder out.

That's good for city stop and go driving. On highway this last week averaging 115kph(about 75mph) I consistantly made 22mpg Canadian. Your sure right about a big truck making so much better mpg than a gasser! (For the US guys- don't get too excited- 18mpg Canadian equates to 14.4 Us mpg, and 22mpg canadian equates to just over 18mpg US. In the city 14.4mpg, or doing an average75mph 18mpg is excellent IMO!!)

TurboTed....It's better than that:

1 Canadian Gallon =4.546 litres
I used 102 litres equal to 22.43 Canadian gallons.
1 Canadian Gallon = 1.2 American Gallons, therefore I used 26.8 American Gallons.
I went 654 kms. equal to 408 miles. (1 km.=.6241 miles)

408 divided by 26.8 equals 15.55 miles per American gallon.

My overhead must be pretty accurate because it was showing 15.4

Your doing better than you think....

Oops! Add 20% to convert US gallons to Canadian is correct. Taking 20% off those Canadian gallons to convert back to US is not(of course). (Disregard that last post!)
