How About Dear Dodge Better Paint!
I love my truck but am amazed that in owning my Fords for 5 years the paint never even thought about scratching. My new truck with zero abuse is already scratched in less than a month! I cant believe that as careful as I am it already has scratches and it is garaged kept!

That's my biggest complaint with the Dodge, other than the thin sheetmetal. Guess in five or six years I will have the truck repainted with 'real' paint.

This is the reason that I mark Definatly Not!! on the dodge survey to the question "will you buy another dodge vehicle"
My 05 has 18k on the clock and looks like a scratched up, dinged up POS!!! I tell somebody every chance I get as to what junk this truck is.

actually dodge uses a thicker gauge sheet metal then chevy and ford.......they even use more paint layers also...i beleive its the clear coat thats the problem....not layered enough........thats what protects the paint!

When i bought my truck the sale rep told me that the biggest complaint he has with dodges he sales is paint. They said for $750 they will take the truck to a local paint shop and put a heavy duty clear coat on it and it will be backed by the factory warrenty. I wanted to do it but i figured they were trying to make a extra buck. Now after a year and a few scatches later i should of taken him up on the offer. I can still do it but would have to pay up front for it instead of them putting it on my note.

DC paint is certainly pretty poor. They have had bad paint going all the way back to the early 90s when they had all kinds of peeling paint warranty claims.
GM also had a spat of bad paint in the 90s, especially light blue metallic and silver colors.
I'm quite certain that they only way to get a Dodge to have good cosmetics is to either powder coat the whole stinking truck, or get spray-on bedliner over the whole thing.

thats why you always have the added" mopar paint protection" to the sale price.....they had that added along with some other dealer options on mine....the paint protection was listed at $399.00...i never pay for dealer added options....i tell them either remove the items or subtract the price.....they always subtract the price to make the deal.
