Hole In Rad!

I just had an interesting thing happen to me yesterday. I found a puddle of antifreeze below my truck. Further investigation revealed I had a hole in my rad. What I found was that the little tube in the shroud where the wires go (at the bottom) has been touching one of the vains on my rad and over time rubbed through creating a little hole. It was not a big deal as the aluminum patch cost me $45, but removing the rad takes a bit of time and patience. I attached a 10 inch length of sticky foam to the tube although I made sure there is enough of a gap between the shroud and the rad.

Anyhow, I just thought I would share this bit of useless trivia with everyone so you may want to check for clearance between your rad and shroud to make sure nothing is rubbing.

JB weld works well to fix small holes in your rad. Just make sure it is drained and completely degreased. I got a fix on my bike done 10 years ago. still good..
