HID headlights

Has any one had any problems with HID headlights. I have a 2006 3/4 ton Dodge Ram and I installed a set of HID lights. When I installed them and with the truck running they will not work in the low beam position. The day time running lights work but no low beam? Thanks for any advice, Art.

you need the resisters. TIPM is not seeing the required load on that circuit. it will pulse a ground signal to the bulb to "fire" the standard bulb. will do that a few times (people call it flickering lights) and then shut off that circuit.

talk to these guys. They are going to be doing my new truck with custom headlight buckets.

Art, I am also in the midst of an HID upgrade. The first manufacturer that I went through sold me lights with an infamous "HID canceller" placed between the feed from your oem power harness to the ballasts. WOrk great inthat no lamp out indicator as advertised, but the computer shuts it off power when engine is on after flickering. Spoke to Todd from retrosolutions.com, he was a great resource despite the possibility of me not purchasing any products.
To that end, our 06 require a resistor to decoy the computer and a harness that sends poer straight from the battery. I just received my harness and lights, a second set since there might be a possibility of no money return from original vendor. Go to his website and call him. I will install mine tomorrow and hope it works with the resistor and new wire harness. Will update when complete.

The best ones I found are from V-leds.com They give you a complete harness to over ride the Can Buss. Price is better than many places too.

The only problem they had was when you ran day lights.

Update: Successful install of HID's without flickering or lamp out. I installed the wire harness Todd form retrosolutions.com recommended with one resistor. Nice to have lights you can see the road..

I purchased the LED back-up lights from Todd also, but did not install them yet; just in case lamp out occurs I did not want too many variables until I knew the HID's were in full operation. HAs anyone done this upgrade and did you get a lamp out?

Installed LED back up lights, no problems. HID's are awesome specially with projector headlamps. Sharp cutoff, is not blinding to oncoming traffic.
