Headlights: HID vs Sport conversion

Like everyone else who owns one of these trucks, I've had it with my current headlight system. I'm not going to fool around any longer polishing the factory lights. It's like putting a band aid on a bullet wound! The housings are going to be replaced, that's a given. But with what? I'm not interested in something that looks like it should be on a car from "The Fast and the Furious"; this is a truck!

After reading dozens of threads on this subject, here are my questions: I like the idea of HID lamps, but what style of headlight should they be mounted in? Std., Sport, European? Like I said, the lights on the truck are going to be replaced anyway, so which style housing is best? Also, wouldn't HIDs in a non-HID housing cause the light pattern to spread all over the place? FYI, most of my night driving is done on narrow country roads with lots of wildlife around.

Any advice from someone who has actually done this and lived with them for a while?

Thanks!

Some reading:

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=158213 (Stock headlight HIDs )

There are a lot of those "euro style" clear headlights out there- with mixed reports.
I think that since the "good" hid kits (bi-xenon 9004) do emit the light at the same point as the filament in a 9004 the geometry of the light should remain unchanged- only 3 times more light output.

I found that using pure carnauba wax after polishing the lenses of my stockers they stayed clear for more than a year without discoloring.

I think you have to find a solution that works for you. I too read dozens of threads before going with what I have in my signature which I really enjoy.

Thanks for the link, I'll give it a look. What bulbs are you running with your stockers? Happy with them?

I am running these click me

My headlights give a nice spread of light and I would do the upgrade again. I've had them in almost two months now.

Now in looking at those pics, my front bumper is tweaked some and sags, but the lights work very well for me.

You looked at a BriteBox?

I went with it. The light is much improved on high. But I often wish I had still more light. Low beams, even with the fogs on, leave a quite bit to be desired on wet roads.

I've got HID's in mine, and they are well worth the cash. Got them from stangmods.com, order for a 87-93 stang. I've only had one issue with them, that was the relay failed. But a $6 universal relay drops right in, and their customer service has impressed me quite a bit. I'm thinking about getting a set of 1-piece headlights, but it would be more for looks than anything. Any increase in lighting would simply be a bonus.

I really like the sport light. For starters the clear lenses are a way better design then stock, They let way more light through. Also On high beam having four bulbs makes awesome amount of light. Low beam is way briter then my old ones were on high beam all though so are my foglights(old headlights really sucked) I kindof wanted to try the hid's but dont know much about them.
