Question Any Ideas Why Wipers not going To home position Please.

Hi everyone I just recently had an issue start with my truck that the wipers do not go to home position and when powered off stay about 1/4 of the way up the window but work fine otherwise.
This began when there was snow build up on the window and I thought... I heard a pop sound (not 100percent)

I have searched the threads and seem to have it narrowed down to the wiper motor.. and may need repair or replacement..
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...wiper+position

or there may be a relay? I should check first? could someone tell me more about what relay I should be checking?

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500
there is a wiper delay option as well that I have.

Thank you.

I'm not 100% sure but the linkage may have spun on the motor shaft causing them to be off their normal stopping spot. You may be able to take cowl cover off and see if you can loosen nut on linkage to motor and cycle the wipers while nut is loose, so motor goes to normal park position, then adjust the linkage so wipers are in the right park spot, then tighten nut and turn on wipers see if they stop in the right spot.Good luck.

I can tell you what I know and all I know about wipers... some of them reverse the motor to go to park. Craig

Does that mean that there was a pin that was stripped or have to be replaced?

Usually linkage is attached to motor by a shaft and secured with a nut.Take cowl cover off and check it out.

Thumbs up Follow up to my wiper Problem

Thank you everyone for your help it was not as big a problem as I had originally thought.
The problem was the wiper motor spline moved on the wiper mechanism I noticed when I was taking things apart that the Nut didnt seem tight and that that is what possibly caused it to slip. I hope there is no permanent damage. I set arms back to home position. and tightened down the nut as tight as possible.
My thoughts... on the wiper arm it looks like a key that should shear before the motor slips like mine did but didnt.

Well glad its fixed and thank you once again for your help.

Now if I could only figure out why I am using over 2 litres of oil every 1,000 KM on a motor with only 120,000km
